Happy New Year (Oh, And Your Unemployment Benefits are Ending)

December 28, 2013 by Lady Unemployed

If you haven’t heard, the turn of the New Year means that a lot of people out of work who are on unemployment get screwed over.

On the positive side, this means that the unemployment rate goes down significantly. It sure does look good on news reports when you aren’t having as many people appear on that list of unemployed Americans anymore doesn’t it?

I’m being sarcastic, of course.

The problem seems to be is our solution to the debt crisis is take from the poor when shouldn’t it be the other way around? I think we should develop a Robin Hood approach to how we run our government. Take from the rich, give to the poor.

Well, happy new year folks.

Supposedly there is a current push to extend the benefits for at least three more months. Let’s hope that happens.

In the words of one of the higher ups in my company that I had to work for who made my work experience at my company a living hell for the last 8 months –

Shit rolls downhill.

Yes, yes it does.

  1. Hi Lady Unemployed, Great article – but sad start to the new year. Seems the same story is happening in Australia. Although I imagine, and have read that the situation of the un(der)employed can be much more difficult in the USA.

Meantime, this piece from my blog might cheer some people: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Dogs and a Way Forward for the Jobless,

By the way, I’ve added your blog’s badge to my site.

    All the best,
    And Happy New Year
