I think I have olive oil in just about every food I make – pasta, rice dishes, chicken dishes, you name it! And it’s always nice to find different places that make olive oil, especially outside of the usual brands I find. So I’m really excited to point out this great olive oil brand for you guys –
Apollo Olive Oil was started back in 1999 and family and friends have made up the “backbone” of Apollo Olive Oil. Their focus is on “working towards excellence, promoting health, and rediscovering the pleasures of good food and dining together.” And if you need proof of their quality, they’ve won many awards over the years!
If you are wanting to do more with olive oil than just sprinkling some on pasta, and you really want to find out more about olive oil in general, Apollo Olive Oil’s website has some great frequently asked questions that will help you with figuring out things about olive oil that you may not have known before! Things like “What does Extra Virgin Olive Oil” mean and “what should GOOD olive oil taste like”! Read the answer to those questions here.
I had the chance to try out a couple of their olive oils – the Mistral Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the Sierra Organic Olive Oil. It’s hard for me to really discern the taste of olive oil when it’s mixed into foods but I can really taste the quality of this olive oil. This is much better than what I usually find in the store. Plus I love the aroma of these olive oils. I’ve tasted olive oil before that tasted greasy, and this wasn’t that experience. This is obviously quality stuff. It is priced a bit high – each bottle costs about $19.95. But you know what? I actually think it’s worth it. Plus I LOVE the fact that it is labelled organic, that is greatly appreciated.
