Right when I think we’re done with the heat wave, another one is around the corner. Sure, it’s the end of August and we should be done with summer soon at least, right? But not for me!
The last few weeks have had at least 3 days of 90 degrees and although we’re finally on the cooling trend, I can’t help but let you guys know about the thing you must get to cool off for these dog days of summer. (And you never know, the fall could be hot!)
So I had the chance to review the Honeywell Portable Air Conditioner.
First of all, it comes in this great huge box which can seem overwhelming if you are worried about putting the thing together. But you know what? It’s EXTREMELY easy. And I opened up this box and started putting it together late at night too, so how about that? The hardest part was the hose and connecting it to the unit. Which took me less than five minutes to do, which is pretty incredible actually (I think I spent more time putting together and an office chair I got delivered once).
So I set this up in a back bedroom that really doesn’t get a lot of sun in the afternoon, it’s probably the coolest part of the house. One thing I loved is that there wasn’t a need for me to remove the window screen, I just set up the part you put into the window and it was just plugging it in and turning it on!
Over the last few weeks, my city experienced a pretty horrid heat wave and so I’ve kept this unit plugged in and running during the hottest points of the day. To give you some perspective, my apartment is whatever the temperature is outside and sometimes hotter, because it faces the afternoon sun when it’s the hottest point in the day. So it’s really bad. But the room that I put the air conditioner, stayed at a cool 75 when it was about 100 in the rest of the apartment.
A nice chilly 66 Degrees in the Bedroom (during a cool morning) |
For not as chilly days, I love the fact that you can adjust the temperature for how cool you want it, so this is greatly appreciated. PLUS it isn’t very loud either, so it won’t disrupt conversation or television.
Honestly this is the best portable air conditioner I have seen so far. It’s the perfect thing to cool off a regular sized room (this is a room that I can close off to the rest of the apartment so that helps a lot as well!). Price wise, it may be a bit expensive, but this is worth purchasing. Really! You will be extremely happy with this product. It’s one of the few things I can safely rave about it seems like, because portable air conditioners that are good are sort of hard to come by for me.
Right now you can get this on Amazon.com for $449 with free shipping.
I received the above item in exchange for my honest review.
