You know those moments when you feel like you’ve had a major setback, and that you’ve been brought back to square one? I am dealing with that feeling today, and while I’m trying to convince myself that despite what happened that I’ve learned a lot, I’m still frustrated.

I lost my job last week. I’ll avoid the details, but I can tell you that I feel frustrated. I feel like I lost 6 months of job searching and I’m not even sure how to take that next step forward with my job search now.

As confident as I felt about the direction of my career before, after last week I’m not sure I want to head in that direction anymore. Not that I don’t think I can do it, but now I’m uncertain it was a good fit for me after all.

This week, I’ve been pursuing freelance writing as I look for a job, but to be honest, today I’m frustrated with that too.

So, if you are dealing with setbacks, know you are not alone. I don’t have advice or any profound reflections to share, but I thought I’d put this blog post out there to verbalize how I’m feeling today.

I started this blog in 2012 when I got let go of my first job out of college. Since then, I've continued talking about my job search experience, office politics, unemployment stories written by others, movies I've enjoyed, products I've loved, and more. This blog is about work, life, and everything else in between.
