Christian testimony

I am so honored to have K.T. Redwine, also known as Kate by Faith, over at my blog today. She wrote a phenomenal guest post about how she stayed motivated during her time of unemployment (it left me so inspired and hopeful!). I encourage you to go by and read her post then come back her to read our interview. You will also want to check out her book If God Be for Me: Powerful Testimonies to Stir the Christian Soul.

Me: You went through a tough time period of unemployment. Your guest post really resonated with me about how tough the unemployment process can be. What advice would you give to job seekers who are having a hard time finding a job?

Kate: My advice for those who are having a hard time finding a job is to keep the faith. My faith in God was my hope during my long term unemployment. You have to encourage yourself every day and tune out all negativity. And just remember that sometimes a job is not for you. You may be called to the marketplace to start your own business. During this unprecedented time, where over 26 million folks have applied for unemployment, now is the time to market your gifts, talents, and abilities. This is the time to create and innovate!

Me: Tell me a bit how your faith sustained you during your difficult period of unemployment.

Kate: The word of God says that Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). During that time, it was a rollercoaster ride. Many ups and downs. Some highs and some lows. But through it all, I remained confident in God. If I continued to look at the natural circumstances, I would get scared and discouraged. But when I decided to put it all in God’s hands, I was at peace. I constantly saturated my mind with the Word of God and I knew that everything would be okay. God is good!

Me: So many people are out of work right now thanks to the Coronavirus. What makes it hard is having to be at home right now to keep the virus at bay. Can you share any tips for job seekers on making the best of this time period?

Kate: I would encourage job seekers to get those creative juices flowing. Check out Upwork and see if there are any projects that they can work on from home. Also, your skills are someone’s blessing. Your God-given gifts and talents can help someone’s business stay open right now. I would strongly encourage you to reach out to local small businesses and see if your skills can help them. For example, social media marketing, internet marketing, virtual assistance etc…since so many businesses are closed and most brick and mortar businesses don’t really know about the online space. This is the perfect time to serve.

Me: Tell me a little bit about your book, If God Be For Me. What inspired this book?

Kate: My book is a faith refresher and a faith builder. It chronicles my testimonies of God doing some fantastic things in my life when I was hopeless. He gave me hope and peace in the midst of a storm. It’s really like Chicken Soup for the Soul but for Christians or those that need faith and hope during some devastating times. The Lord actually ordained me to write this book in January. He let me know that many souls would be saved. I talk about overcoming unemployment, facing foreclosure, not having transportation for over 2 years, buying a home with bad credit and having no money saved, etc.. That’s just a portion of the testimonies that I share and it will surely stir your soul.

Me: What do you hope readers take away from this book?

Kate: My prayer is for readers to know God loves them the same as He loves me. So, if He did ALL of these wonderful things for me? Then He’ll certainly do it for them. He is not a respecter of persons. I want them to be encouraged, be strong, have hope, and have faith that nothing is impossible with God. He has a solution to every problem.

Me: What are you working on now? What can we expect next from you?

Kate: This is a preparation phase for me right now. I do everything with God’s direction, wisdom, and guidance. He is preparing me for some BIG things. Just stay tuned and you’ll see. 🙂

I started this blog in 2012 when I got let go of my first job out of college. Since then, I've continued talking about my job search experience, office politics, unemployment stories written by others, movies I've enjoyed, products I've loved, and more. This blog is about work, life, and everything else in between.
