In this harsh, competitive economy with razor thin margins, maybe one way of getting a whole heap of people (including, and starting with yourself) employed is an effective easy way to create a co-operative.
1. Co-ops don’t need to pay wages.
2. Labour costs are automatically zero, and labour productivity tends to the highest possible amount
3. everyone wants a profit
4. productivity training is something that is part of the equation.

It makes sense to me. If employers are not employing, then the solution is to create more employers!
