I’m back with another brainstorming session for all you content creators out there. Whether you run your own blog or you need ideas for your company’s social media account, I’m hoping to share ideas that get your creative juices going. Since my day job is content writing, I know how hard it is to think of ideas sometimes.
Also, I work ahead with content marketing, which is why I’m highlighting June. However, I know today is May 1st. So, if you need June ideas, check out my May post!
So, here we go!
For June 2023, consider these themes:
Start of Summer
June kicks off the start of summer! Well, more specifically, June 21 does, but I feel like we’re all in summer mode by June 1. So, a lot of summer content ideas are available. Think about content related to:
- Summer Safety – Consider topics around summer safety. It doesn’t just have to be pool safety, but traveling safely (as a group, as a solo traveler, as a couple, etc). Consider safety according to means of travel, too. Such as safety traveling by car, plane, bus, etc.
- Vacation Ideas – Lots of content can be on this topic! Be your local area’s travel guide and offer tips on what tourists need to know about going to your area. Or, keeping in mind the kind of business you have, share “needed” products people should get to have a better or less stressful or more fun or more fashionable vacation (you get the idea!).
- Beat the Heat – It’s hot weather season. Yay? Well, early June may not get the kind of heat that July and August do, so this topic can apply to any of the three months. But content around staying cool is never uncool. So, consider topics on how to stay cool at home. Or share places people can go to get cool in the area near you.
- Beat the Boredom – Was I the only one who was bored easily as a kid during the summer? Share ideas for beating the boredom of summer! Crafts, games, indoor activities, outdoor activities, local stuff to do, etc. I think this is a suitable topic for just about every lifestyle brand.
Graduation Season
It’s graduation season! From kindergarten to college, graduation is always fun to celebrate. Consider these angles:
- Gifts for the Grad – Just about any brand that sells a product or service can write about this topic! It also doesn’t need to be a product or service you can wrap up with a bow. It can also be a resume writing service as a gift. It can be teeth whitening. And of course, classic gifts too, like jewelry mementos, etc. But think outside of the box for gifts and think about this time of year in terms of how you can help the grad for the next stage in life (transitioning from kindergarten to first grade, middle school to high school, high school to college, etc.)
- Grad Parties – Of course, organizing the party, safety tips, games to play, decorations to get, etc. all fit in this umbrella. A brick and mortar place or someone with a business that serves people on a local level can talk about great places in the area to have a grad party.
- Grad Card Writing Prompts – This is a great idea for a writing service or anyone within the mental health industry. Consider sharing prompts on what to say to someone’s grad in a card. Always a helpful topic!
- Graduation Day Specific Tips – There’s a lot to consider here as well. Talk about ways to make sure graduation day goes smoothly (when to get there, how to get there, etc). Also, hat decoration tips! I wasn’t the decorate my grad hat type but offer some tips here. Share stories of unique hats that went viral. Local businesses may consider sharing where to celebrate after graduation day.
Father’s Day
Father’s Day is Sunday, June 18th. Much like Mother’s Day, there’s a lot of content competition here! I took the lazy approach here and grabbed the topics I wrote about for Mother’s Day and made for Father’s Day. But I think these are applicable! But there are variety of angles to consider:
- Budget-friendly/Affordable gifts for Dad
- Crafts to do with your kids to help celebrate Father’s day
- Local events to do on Father’s day (if you have a brick-and-mortar business or service, do a shout-out of events or businesses in the area)
- Tips for what to say on Father’s day card (great post if you are in the mental health field, such as a psychologist or counselor, work as a life coach, or write for a living in some way)
- Tips for Father’s Day for those who have dealt with loss (such as tips for loved ones of a father who lost a child, someone who lost their father, etc).
- Decor/organization/cleaning tips to get ready to celebrate the day at home
- Funny/inspiring/heartfelt quotes about dads
- Consider posts that focus on non-traditional dads, such as foster dads, step-dads, grandfathers, etc.
- Obviously, gift ideas are a great topic but consider showcasing how a specific can problem solve or address a specific need to stand out above the noise during this time of year
- Sharing sales is always a great item to promote this time of year
Juneteenth
Juneteenth is on June 19th. It’s to celebrate the ending of slavery in the United States.
I found a great post on how to recognize this day as a brand. Here are some tips:
- Amplify black voices and brands in your community and industry
- Do a self-check on whether your business/company is really embracing inclusivity and diversity. Share whether you have room to grow or how you have grown in this area online. Candor is powerful!
- Educate people on the day and the history behind it.

Special Awareness Days/Weeks/Months for June
I forgot to do this for May! But National Day Calendar has some great “awareness” days, weeks, and months. Some are silly, but many are serious and heartfelt. Here are a few I spotted:
- Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month: This is a day to bring awareness to Alzheimer’s. Check out the Alzheimer’s Association for more content ideas. They ask you to use #ENDALZ for your hashtag. Consider talking about signs of Alzheimer’s, ways to engage with a relative with Alzheimer’s, and anything personal you can share about this topic.
- Beautiful in Your Skin Month: Share ways to take care of your skin better, inspiring posts on accepting yourself (and your skin!).
- National Adopt a Cat Month: Run by the National Humaine Society. Consider posts about if you should get a cat, why you should get a cat, taking care of a cat, supplies for a new cat owner, if you need pet insurance for a cat, etc.
- National Candy Month: Yup, candy gets a month, too! Obviously, this is great for any candy makers out there. Or if you happen to have a skincare product or any food product with candy flavor vibes, consider taking advantage. Also, go the opposite route of the impact of sugar on our body, our teeth, our mind, etc.
- PTSD Awareness Month: Another great awareness month. Highlight the seriousness of PTSD, tips for managing PTSD, tips for helping/supporting someone with PTSD. Get more ideas by visiting the US Department of Veteran Affairs.
- National Oral Health Month: Get teeth-friendly here! Benefits of taking care of your oral health, tips for practicing better oral health, etc.
- National Pride Month: June is pride month! Careful of “Rainbow Washing.” It can do more harm than good. Show solidarity with LGBTQIAP+ brands/voices, promote fundraising opportunities, and share resources.
- World Bicycle Day (June 3): Promote the benefits of having a bicycle! Consider a newbie post about this for people like me who haven’t ridden a bicycle since they were a kid. Share safety tips, bicycle gear purchasing tips, great bicycle routes in your area, etc. United Nations actually has more ideas for you too!
- World Environment Day (June 5): This is a day of bringing awareness to plastic pollution. There is a site dedicated to it, actually. Consider promoting ways your business is combating plastic pollution or if you don’t have plastic materials in your products (especially important if plastic is common in your industry).
- National Garden Week (June 4-June 10): A great time to promote if you have a gardening related brand or website! Share tips for newbies or great things to plant this time of year. Get more ideas on the National Garden Clubs website.
- US Open Golf Championship (June 15 – June 18): Obviously a good one for golf brands.
- Summer Solstice/First Day of Summer (June 21): Beyond summer content, highlight events in the area. Great day to just say “Happy Summer” on social media.
There are a ton more available on National Today. Of course, choose the right theme for your business, brand, or blog. And do a little digging to see who launched the day, and if there are special hashtags you can use or social media accounts to tag.
Let me know if I missed any special days in the comments section. And feel free to add to my ideas!
